The Power of the
Holy Spirit
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
— Acts 10:38
The power of the Holy Ghost was on Jesus and it manifested in visible miracles, signs and wonders. In a similar way when the power came upon the apostles, God was confirming their messages with signs and wonders.
The Church of Jesus needs the power of the Holy Ghost today more than ever before. We are in an era that people need to see the signs and wonders for them to believe and for those who have believed to hold on steadfastly without wavering.
Though our Lord Jesus Christ was born of a woman and made in the likeness of sinful flesh, yet the power that conceived him came entirely from God the Holy Spirit—as the Scriptures reveal, the Angel Gabriel said to Mary:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35The physical body of the Lord Jesus Christ was a masterpiece of the Holy Spirit. The creation of the heavens above us is said to be the work of God’s Spirit:
“By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.”
Job 26:13In addition, the Holy Spirit’s power is displayed in those continued acts of creation which are still performed in the world; such as the creation and birth of men, women, and animals. The creation of every man and woman and angel is the work of the Holy Spirit; and the creation of all life and all flesh in this world is as much to be ascribed to the power of the Holy Spirit as the creation of the heavens.
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.”
Romans 8:11The Holy Spirit has capacity to restore what has been stolen, killed and destroyed. Jesus manifested so as to destroy the works of the devil through the power of the Holy Spirit. It was the power of Holy Spirit by which the body of Jesus was raised from the grave after having laid there for three days and nights.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10We can also believe God for the restorative dimension of the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives today. Any part of our body that is dead can be restored back to life. Dead brain, dead womb, dead organs can all be restored back to life by the power of the Holy Spirit.
During 40 years of journey for Israelites in wilderness — Deuteronomy 29:4–5 — one of the dimensions of the power of the Holy Spirit is protection.
The Lord promised that at any time the enemies come against us like a flood, the Holy Spirit will raise a standard against the enemy. He is committed to our safety and security and will not allow the wicked to prevail over our lives.
As a child of God you are entitled to divine protection by the power of the Holy Spirit, against dangers and troubles both in the physical and the spiritual, because He never sleeps nor slumbers.
You are not to entertain any fear in the face of dangers but to trust His protective power to shield you and keep you safe.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:184 Transformative Positions that Take Place in a Spiritual Life:
Regeneration & New Birth
The Spirit initiates spiritual life, converting a person from spiritual death to life and transforming their heart.
Sanctification (Inner Change)
The Spirit renews the mind and heart, enabling believers to put to death sinful deeds and habits (such as addiction).
Empowerment for Witnessing
Acts 1:8 highlights that the Spirit provides divine strength for believers to carry out God’s work, equipping them for ministry and spreading the Gospel.
Developing Character
The Spirit produces “fruit” (love, joy, peace, etc.), transforming a believer’s character to reflect Christ.

The Azusa Street Revival (1906–1915)
